NYX LIP I.V GLOSS REVIEW

NYX Lip I.V Hydrating Gloss Serum Stain. Shade – 09 Blush Rush.

I have seen NYX Lip I.V advertised all over social media so I had to get my hands on this product! Lip I.V at the moment is selling out extremely fast, I went into Superdrug and Boots and both stores were completely out of stock. I managed to order shade ‘Blush Rush’ online but it wasn’t the usual shade I’d choose for myself. I did want a lighter colour as I rarely wear anything bold but I have seen other reviews saying the lighter shades don’t really stain the lips much. If that is true I’m happy I was able to get a darker colour in the end, so let’s hope it does work! Here is a photo before I have applied any lip product.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS…

The applicator is a nice shape and size, perfect for lining the lip edge and filling in the full lip. The gloss feels nice and moisturising and not sticky at all. The colour when first applied is a pinky red which is a cool shade of red that makes the teeth look whiter. The gloss is extremely high shine, very pigmented and looks really pretty on the lips. I love the colour if I was wanting a bolder lip for a night out. This is a picture directly after I have applied the NYX Lip I.V.

I left the gloss on for around 10-15 mins and then carefully wiped off with a tissue as instructed. I was really impressed how much it had stained my lips in so little time. I can now tell if you picked a lighter colour in the range it probably wouldn’t stain the lip much so I’m happy I got this shade.

After about an hour I noticed the stain did disappear in parts on the lip but stayed very well on the lip line. I have seen a few videos of people using the Lip I.V just as a lipliner which is a great idea as lipliner can tend to smudge a bit more than lipstick. I added a tiny bit of lip balm over the stain and tested the wear for another few hours.

After 4 more hours the lip stain had completely vanished off the lip but stayed pretty in tact on the lip line.

I decided to test the Lip I.V next as just a lip gloss without removing to see how it performed. I found it was much better to leave the product on rather than wiping off after 10-15 mins. The lip looked less patchy and seemed to last a lot longer leaving the product on. This is a photo after applying to the full lip and leaving on for one hour.

PROS

– Stained the lip line for hours. No need to reapply lipliner this Lip I.V stained the lip line all day.

– Nice texture. Not sticky, glides on effortlessly and feels smooth and moisturising.

– High shine. Incredible pigment and makes the lips look juicy!

– Perfect for holidays. Wearing less make up on holiday but still want a nice shape to the lip? This is perfect to reapply throughout the day if you want some colour on the lips without applying all three lipliner, lipstick and lipgloss.

CONS

– Doesn’t stain the full lip all day. The lip edge stained perfectly but the full lip did wear off patchy and after a few hours it pretty much disappeared. Product needs to be reapplied every couple of hours to look its best.

FINAL THOUGHTS…

I think the NYX Lip I.V is a great product if left on the lips. I don’t think it’s necessary to remove the product after 10-15 mins I found it looked more flattering to leave the Lip I.V on for a couple of hours and then reapply.

It really does stain your lip edge all day so there are a couple of ways you can use this product. You could apply just on the lip edge and then remove after 10-15 mins and add your own lipstick. You could apply over the whole lip and reapply after a few hours which is my preferred method or apply the product and then remove after 10-15 mins as a stain. The last method is my least favourite as it doesn’t last as well.

I’ll definitely be repurchasing these in different colours to take away on holiday saving space in the make up bag!
