MY TOP FAVOURITE FOUNDATIONS

I’ve tried and tested many foundations over the years and I have especially reviewed and tested a lot in the last few months. Due to the new laws regarding certain ingredients being banned it means I have tried a tonne more recently with the new formulas. For me a foundation has to last all day to be in my top list. I’m going to start with lighter coverages right through to the fullest.

BEST BB CREAM

L’Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream

I have used this product for years now. I absolutely love it for days when I’m wearing less make-up like on holiday. It appears white when squeezed out of the tube but then adapts to your skin tone. For a BB cream this lasts on the skin extremely well and isn’t overly dewy or shiny which helps with the longevity. I use shade light.

BEST LIGHT COVERAGE FOUNDATION

No7 Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation

This is a recent find of mine. After speaking with a lot of my mature clients No7 seems to be their favourite brand of foundation so I researched which one of their many foundations would suit my kit the most. I wanted something very light coverage that would suit mature or dry skin that could also be mixed into a fuller coverage foundation to create a medium coverage. Being a mobile make-up artist I like to carry just two types of foundations and be able to create a custom finish for my clients without lugging around many options. I have tested this alone and mixed into a full coverage foundation and both ways it’s a great product. For a light coverage foundation this lasts very well on the skin. I use shade cool vanilla.

BEST MEDIUM COVERAGE FOUNDATION

ELF Soft Glam Satin Foundation

For a drugstore foundation this is absolutely amazing. The coverage is beautiful, it lasts all day and gives a natural dewy finish without looking greasy or sweaty. It’s definitely more catered for a normal to dry skin however I have combination skin and I still wear it but I just make sure to powder half way through the day. I use shade 20 light cool.

BEST FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATIONS

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear and Dior Forever Skin Wear

I absolutely love both of these foundations so it was too hard to narrow down just one. Both last amazingly well, control shine and give a brilliant coverage. I’d say the Dior foundation is a little more suited for a more mature skin as I find the Lancôme one can settle into expression lines just a tiny bit. The Dior foundation is definitely a splurge so go for the Lancôme one if you can’t justify the cost as it’s VERY similar. I use shade 115c in Lancome and shade 0.5N in Dior.
