L’OREAL BB CREAM REVIEW

L’OREAL PARIS – MAGIC BB

I believe this ‘L’oreal Magic BB cream’ is the new formula as I previously used ‘L’oreal BB C’est Magic’. When it came time for me to repurchase I noticed the name had changed so I thought I’d give the latest product a try to see the difference.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF L’OREAL MAGIC BB CREAM…

Straight away I noticed the Magic BB Cream did feel a little fuller coverage than the previous formula. I didn’t actually mind this although I did notice it didn’t apply as smoothly with my hands like the old product did. I’m not usually one for applying make up with my hands but sometimes a BB cream is the type of product you want to apply quickly and with your fingers. I found this was actually quicker to apply with a brush, using fingers just seemed to take longer blending out.

The BB cream comes out of the tube opaque white and then apparently adapts to your skin tone. There are however different shades to choose from. I am using shade light and it’s pretty perfect for my skin tone.

L’oreal Magic BB claims to be ‘glowy’ but I disagree. Funnily enough what I like about this product is that it dries down pretty matte and lasts longer than any lightweight foundation or BB cream I’ve ever used before.

PROS

  • Convenient packaging. Great for carrying around in a make up bag or taking away on holiday. No need to worry about spillages or smashes with the tightly screwed plastic tube.
  • Good coverage. For a BB cream this a pretty decent coverage.
  • Long lasting. Lightweight coverage formulas tend to disappear throughout the day and not last whereas this product definitely lasts longer than some high end foundations I’ve used!
  • Inexpensive. Retailing at under £12 this is an absolute bargain.

CONS

  • No SPF. I can’t find anywhere online or on the tube where it mentions sun protection factor so I take it there isn’t any in this product. It does state the old formula did have spf 20 which is a real shame as the new product doesn’t seem to.
  • Shade range. Even though the product ‘adapts to skin tone’ there still needs to be a decent enough shade range to suit everyone and there seems to only be 5 shades.

HOW TO USE

As I explained previously it does work better when applied with a brush.

I like to use a rounded foundation brush and squirt about a 10p size amount of product into brush. Dab a little on both cheeks, chin and forehead and start buffing the BB cream into the skin until it’s completely blended. I do find applying a little concealer under the eyes and anywhere needing extra coverage completes the overall look. Powder can be added for extra longevity or for anyone with an oiler skin type.
