MAYBELLINE – LIFTER LINER LIP LINER REVIEW
MAYBELLINE – LIFTER LINER IN SHADE 06 LINE LEADER

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAYBELLINE LIFTER LINER…
‘Maybelline Lifter Liner’ is in a glossy pink packaging with metallic lettering. The casing around the product is plastic rather than a traditional wooden pencil. I do usually prefer a wooden make-up pencil as I find plastic case pencils more difficult to sharpen. At the end of the review I will test sharpening the pencil.

Lips are free of any make up product ready to test out the lipliner…

‘Maybelline Lifter Liner’ felt creamy when applying but had enough grip to apply a smooth precise line around the lips.
The Shade I have used – 06 Line leader is a lovely nude pink and is slightly darker than my natural lip shade.
The next photo is directly after I have applied the lip liner. I have slightly over-lined my lips to create more fullness.

After applying around the lip line I then coloured the lipliner over the full lip and applied lipstick over the top.
I always like to fill in the whole lip to ensure the lipsick lasts longer. I am wearing ‘Thanks its MAC by MAC Cosmetics’

The final lip picture is after 7 hours wear and it’s still completely intact. Absolutely no touch ups needed for the lipliner even after eating and drinking. (Lipstick has been reapplied throughout the day)

PROS
– Perfect consistency. Not too creamy and not too hard. The Maybelline lipliner glided on the lips brilliantly.
– Affordable. Retailing at under £7 it’s very affordable and easy to obtain from most cosmetic stores.
– Long lasting. I did not reapply this lipliner for the 7 hours I wore it. No smudges even after eating and drinking.
CONS
– Colour range. There is a nice amount of nude shades but no bright or deep colour shades. I would love there to be some bright pinks, oranges, peaches and berry shades.

Previously I mentioned being nervous of how the lip pencil would behave when sharpened. Due to the lip liner being plastic cased I was worried it wouldn’t sharpen to a perfect pointed tip but I am happy to say it sharpened very well.
I would recommend purchasing a single cosmetic sharpener with no lid. In my opinion these work better than the dual box type sharpeners. Below is an example of the best type of sharpener to use with this type of pencil.
