MADE BY MITCHELL CURVE CASE REVIEW

Made by Mitchell Curve Case – Shade Light.

Curve Case is a cream blusher and contour palette. Containing 8 different shades in a handy case perfect for personal use or pro make-up artists. I have chosen shade ‘Light’ to review on myself but I have also purchased Curve Case ‘Medium’ for my kit so fingers crossed I like them!

Here is a photo of the Made By Mitchell Curve Case swatches on my arm.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS AFTER SWATCHING…

The Curve Case creams feel really buttery and hydrating. The pigment isn’t completely opaque there is a sheerness to them which I’m guessing will create a more natural radiant finish.

From the colour selection I like all of the blusher shades however the ‘contour’ shades are a little off in colour. The Curve Case claims to be a blusher and contour palette however I would personally say they are all more bronzing shades apart from shade ‘Hollo There’ which is a true cool toned contour shade. This doesn’t bother me as for personal use you don’t really need 4 contour shades for yourself. The shade ‘Coolectable’ (5th colour down) is a little odd, it’s described as light cool taupe brown but it comes up quite warm on me. It’s also very light so I don’t think I would ever use that shade on myself or clients unless they were extremely fair. The beauty of this palette is you can mix them together to create different shades though so I will definitely have a play around with mixing colours to create a customer shade.

Here is a photo after I have applied my usual make-up steps before I add the bronzer, contour and blusher out of the Curve Case.

I am going to use shade ‘Creme Carve’ to bronze, ‘Hollo There’ to contour and shade ‘Snatural’ for blush on myself.

I have applied a setting powder over the top on the left side to set and I’ve kept the other side free of any powder. The Curve Case creams felt a little tacky and that’s why I used powder to set them on one side. I kept the right side free of powder to test the longevity of the creams alone. The finish without powder does look beautiful when I move my face and it hasn’t distrusted my foundation at all. I personally prefer to use highlighter to create a glow and keep the rest of the base matte with powder as it lasts longer and feels more preferable to me. However I know a lot of people prefer a glowy creamy base and don’t mind the tackiness so it’s absolutely personal preference whether you wish to powder or not. This next picture is once I had finished my full make up.

5 hours later and I’m really impressed both sides look pretty much the same regarding pigment. The side where I didn’t apply powder over the top is still in tact, it has more of a glow and tackiness to it but it has lasted really well. The side where I added powder is just starting to feel a little tacky 5 hours later but it’s giving a nice radiant finish to the skin. Neither sides disrupted the foundation and both methods worked really well for me. I’d say for an oilier skin type definitely use powder over the top and for a drier skin/someone who likes a really glowy finish to not set with powder.

PROS

– Great value for money. A palette containing 8 shades is cheaper than how much some high end brands charge for just one colour! It works out to be under £4 a shade which is brilliant!

– Perfect for on the go, travel and professional make-up artists. Handy container that’s slim and fairly lightweight.

– Hydrating, creamy formula that gives a nice healthy glow but also performs well with powder too.

– Doesnt disrupt the foundation. Some creams can take off the foundation or cause separation but this Made by Mitchell Curve Case works perfectly with foundation.

 CONS

– Personally I don’t like the shade ‘Coolectable’ so I would have to mix this with another colour to get my use out of it. As a make-up artist this is fine but for personal use I probably couldn’t be bothered so it would end up being wasted.

FINAL THOUGHTS…

I think this is a great value for money palette for both personal use and for a make-up artists kit. It’s great to take on holiday with you to minimise your make-up bag and it would look gorgeous on make up free skin in the sun! The creams work well with added setting powder but they do still last really well without. I am really happy I purchased this palette and I’m looking forward to trying all the shades on my clients!
