HNB COSMETICS CONCEALER AND POWDER REVIEW

HNB Soft Focus Airbrush Concealer and Soft Focus Loose Powder.

Todays review is two products from a beauty/make-up influencers own brand and I will be testing her famous concealer and setting powder. I ordered the products online and chose shade SF1N in the concealer and 01 Fair in the powder.

If you’ve read any of my previous concealer reviews you’ll know I’m extremely fussy with concealers but I do like to try new ones to see if they will ever compete with my favourite Tarte Shape Tape. I will be testing the concealer on one side alone and the other side with her setting powder over the top.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS…

The packaging for the powder has a dusty pink lid with rose gold lettering. The loose powder is in a pretty standard container with the sifter/shaker which helps control the amount of powder dispensed. There is a film over the top in which you can fully remove or pierce through the holes. The concealer has a light pink lid with a chunky sponge wand and is a very similar cylindrical shape to the Tarte Concealer.

The Soft Focus Airbrush Concealer has a nice creamy texture but seems to only offer a medium coverage in my opinion. Most concealers tend to dry down within 5 minutes where as this HNB concealer seems to take at least 15 minutes to even remotely set. It’s important to let your concealer fully dry down before adding powder to minimise creasing. On the left side I have the HNB Soft Focus Airbrush concealer on without powder and the right side I have set the concealer using the HNB Soft Focus Loose Powder.

The side without powder has creased as anticipated. All concealers crease without setting powder in my opinion but this HNB concealer creased a lot due to the creamy texture and slow drying time.

The powder has mattified the concealer on the left side and I have experienced no creasing. The Soft Focus Setting Powder feels lightweight under the eye but has added no coverage. I chose the fair shade instead of translucent hoping it would add a little extra coverage but I can still see the darkness under my eyes. I much prefer the finish with the powder over the top but you can still see a slight amount of darkness so the concealer isn’t as much coverage as I like.

The next photo is after 1 hour wear. In the first 15 minutes I could tell I did not like this concealer with no powder added over the top. The concealer creased immensely and does not offer enough coverage for me personally.

With the powder it’s ok. Not the best concealer I’ve ever tried but not the worst.

Honestly I couldn’t bare to leave the concealer without powder as it looked awful. I had to go out so after a couple of hours so I added powder just to look presentable. This means I won’t be showing the concealer side without powder after 3 hours but I have documented how it wears with the powder. This is after 3 hours with additional setting powder.

The final photo is how it looked after 7 hours wear with the powder. It is pretty much still in tact but does not look as flawless as my trusty old favourite Tarte Shape Tape would be looking at this point.

PROS

– Nice texture.

– Good price.

– Good colour range.

CONS

– Slow drying time.

– Creases a lot without powder.

– Doesn’t offer much coverage.

FINAL THOUGHTS…

I really didn’t like this HNB concealer it creased so badly on me and didn’t offer enough coverage for the darkness under my eyes. The powder was ok under the eyes and it did improve the longevity of the concealer but so would most powders. I felt the powder emphasised lines under my eyes more that other powders I’ve tried within the same price range. That being said I did notice the powder controlled my oils for the rest of my face throughout the day. I applied some powder onto my forehead and cheeks along with the under eyes and it did help my make up last longer. I will be making use of this powder again but not for my under eyes.

LUCYS RATING…

CONCEALER – 5 / 10

POWDER – 6.5 / 10
