ESTEE LAUDER CONCEALER REVIEW
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer Shade – N1.

I cannot tell you much I absolutely love Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. I have used it since I was 16 years old and I use it on the majority of my clients so when I saw the new Double Wear Concealer I had to try it!
I believe this is a new formula as Estée Lauder did have a Double Wear concealer previously but the packaging is now different. I have tried the old formula a long time ago and wasn’t a big fan so I’m hoping they have improved the product.
If you have read my other blog posts you’ll know I am extremely picky when it comes to concealers. My current favourite is Tarte Shape Tape so I’m excited to see how it compares. Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer claims to be medium to full coverage, 24 hours wear, water and transfer resistant, non-caking and crease-resistant a long with a load more bold claims! This is the most excited I’ve ever been to review a product.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS…
The packaging feels very luxurious. It’s heavy to hold, the Estée Lauder logo is embossed on the gold lid and the wand is huge! The smell is very similar to Double Wear Foundation which makes me even more excited to try. I am going to be using this concealer under my eyes.
Here I have applied foundation to my face but avoided the under eye which is where I am going to be applying the concealer.

This is after I have applied the Double Wear Concealer under my eyes.

I have applied a setting powder under the left side and kept the other under eye free of any other product. I always set my concealer with powder as they tend to crease but it does claim to be crease proof so we can compare which looks better after a few hours wear. The concealer seems to dry pretty quickly so you do need to work fast when blending into the skin. The colour is a little lighter than I’d normally choose but I don’t mind it being a bit brighter. Here is a close up of both eyes. First picture is without powder and second photo is with setting powder over top.

Straight away the side without powder has started to crease. It does annoy me when brands claim a concealer is crease proof when it’s not. I genuinely don’t think a concealer used under the eye will be crease proof so I wish they stopped claiming to be. I much prefer the powdered side even if it has settled a little more in the lines. Powder will always accentuate any lines but it will prevent creases and keeps your make up on longer. Here is a photo of both eyes 15 mins after concealer application and once I had finished the rest of my make up.

The next photos are after 2 hours wear. The first photo is without powder and you can see it’s really creased. The product feels tacky under the eye and is missing in parts. The powdered side is still in tact.

The final photos are after 6 hours wear. The powder free side has lost coverage and has creased even further. The powdered side has kept the coverage and is still holding up strong. I will say the powdered side does look a little dry but it’s definitely lived up to the long lasting claims.

PROS
- When used with a powder this concealer lasts all day.
- Good shade range. The shades are numbered rather named so if you use Double Wear foundation you can pick the closest number and tone to that. For example I am shade Ecru 1N2 in foundation and I chose concealer shade 1N.
- Packaging feels luxurious.
- Looks beautiful and blurred on the skin (cheeks, forehead and nose) for a little extra coverage with your usual foundation.
CONS
- Isn’t crease proof. Unless you use a powder this concealer creases a lot.
- Dries very quickly so doesn’t give you much time to blend. This is very similar to the Double Wear foundation formula so you have to be very quick when applying. The finish dries quite matte but still feels tacky without powder.
- Doesn’t work under the eyes for anyone with dryness or lines.
FINAL THOUGHTS…
I wanted to LOVE this concealer and I’ll say I do LIKE it but don’t love it. No concealer compares to Tarte Shape Tape for me but I’d say this is a close second. I’m extremely fussy with concealers so for me to say I like it is a big achievement for the Double Wear Concealer. I would probably use this concealer more on blemishes/pigmentation or areas that need a little extra coverage rather than under the eyes. I did test this concealer many more times and I do feel really torn as the concealer looks absolutely beautiful everywhere on the face apart from the under eyes. For a little extra coverage I would recommend but not for under eye use as it creases and clings to dryness.
LUCYS RATING – 8 / 10
