ELF SOFT GLAM FOUNDATION REVIEW
Elf Soft Glam Satin Foundation. Shade 20 Light Cool.

This foundation is circling around social media at the moment with very positive reviews so I had to try for myself. I must admit I am extremely picky when it comes to foundations. I haven’t found a single foundation apart from Estée Lauder Double Wear that lasts all day and night on me.
This Elf Soft Glam foundation claims to be long lasting, medium buildable coverage with a satin finish. I went into Superdrug to have a look at the testers colours and I chose shade 20 Light Cool for myself.
The packaging is great for taking away on holiday or for a Make-up Artists kit. Being in a squeezy tube means it’s lighter to carry and less leaks or possible breakages.
This is a photo before I have applied the Elf Soft Glam foundation. I have only applied my eye and brow products and some concealer under my eyes.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS…
My first thought was genuinely wow. When I applied this onto the skin and started to blend the product in I was actually shocked how good it looked. Usually when trying a new foundation I can tell almost straight away whether I like it or not. This elf soft glam foundation looked perfect when applied. The coverage is amazing, not at all drying on the skin, had a subtle radiance without looking shiny or greasy and dried down semi matte. The feel of the foundation once dried isn’t too sticky so powder isn’t absolutely necessary. I’ve tried it today without powder as I don’t usually powder my usual foundation but I am guessing with it being a satin finish I’ll prefer using a powder in future.
This is a photo directly after I have applied the foundation. I have not yet applied any other products on top.

This is after I’ve finished my full make up. I have applied a cream bronzer, powder blusher and highlighter over the top. I applied this in the morning at 9am.

Photo next taken was at 1pm which was 4 hours later and everything still looks perfect. I’m super impressed most other foundations would have started to feel greasy and I’d be itching to take it off.

Next photo is an up close shot of how the foundation is looking after 8 hours. A tiny bit of a shine is coming through around the inside of my nose and upper lip. Usually by this point my forehead is starting to look oily if I haven’t powdered with any foundation I use. I’m impressed with how the oiliness has been kept at bay. The oiliness around my nose and lip isn’t too obvious and is not bothering me at this point.

Final photo is after 10 hours wear. Due to the lack of natural lighting I have used the flashlight. You can see my forehead, around the sides of my nose and upper lip is looking a little shiny. Honestly I’m still super impressed this drug store foundation has lasted a full 10 hours. Remember I did not use any powder or setting spray over this foundation so these results are amazing in my eyes for an £8 foundation.

I would advise anyone with oily areas to powder after application, use setting spray or top up with powder around half way through the day to keep this at bay.
PROS
– Super affordable. For only £8 this foundation is an absolute bargain.
– Long lasting. Apart from Estée Lauder Double Wear NOTHING ever lasts on me. I’ve tried many high end foundations that don’t even come close to the longevity of this foundation.
– Radiant. This foundation gives a natural glow without appearing glittery or looking greasy. It has the perfect natural finish that feels comfortable. Many dewy/radiant foundations feel sticky and uncomfortable on the skin, this feels amazing all day!
– Great shade range. 36 shades with different undertones there should be a perfect shade for everyone.
CONS
– Oiliness comes through eventually. If you have oily skin this foundation will need to be prepped and set properly. As is the case with the majority of foundations used on oily skin.
– It doesn’t last as well as Estée Lauder Double Wear. In my opinion there isn’t a foundation out there that lasts as well as this. If you’re looking for an every day long wear foundation this is perfect but for special occasions I would still reach for my old favourite.

HOW TO USE..
Apply a 10p size blob of foundation on the back of your hand. Pick up the product with a beauty sponge and dab on the forehead, cheeks and nose. Dab the foundation into the skin with the sponge until it’s fully blended. If you have dry skin apply your other face products on top. For oilier skin types or someone wanting maximum longevity apply a setting powder over the foundation then the rest of your face products and lastly finish off with a setting spray.
To choose your foundation shade online use this website and enter a foundation you’re currently using that you’re happy with the shade. This will then calculate the best colour match for you.
My final thoughts. I absolutely do recommend this foundation. I think for a more mature or drier skin type this would be perfect. For an oiler skin type you do need to prep and set in order to control shine. I am EXTREMELY fussy with foundations and concealers so any face products on my blog you know it’s been scrutinised. I am over the moon with this foundation for £8 you cannot go wrong!
