SHADES OF LONDON EYESHADOW PALETTES REVIEW

Finding eyeshadow palettes for my professional kit is so difficult. I find most palettes I only use two or three colours and hit the pan very quickly and feel I need to replace the whole palette and waste the rest of the colours. I bought the MAC refill palette as this seemed to answer my dilemma however they are really difficult to get hold of and can be quite expensive replacing each eyeshadow shade. This made me hunt for more palettes that would include a full range of colours I would actually use. I knew I wanted majority matte shades with a range of warm and cool colours. I then stumbled across a Make-up Artist tiktoker that had created 3 palettes and I asked my fiancé to purchase them as a Christmas present for me.

I got all three palettes one is warm browns, the second is cool greys and the third is pinks. Each palette contains two shimmers and the rest are matte which are perfect for transition shades (eye socket colours). I must admit the palettes were a little smaller than I expected but I don’t mind too much as they will be more compact for my kit. They stack really well and they feel nice and sleek. They are a little difficult to open every time I open them I’m scared it’s going to snap a nail!

My fiancé purchased the bundle sale from TikTok shop for Black Friday including all three palettes for roughly £40 however you can purchase them individually too! TikTok always seems to have deals on but from what I can tell they’re usually under £20 per palette.

I am going to test these on myself to see if they are worthy of being in my professional kit. I will be testing a few shades out of each palette and creating three different looks with each one. Apologies for the mix up of order but I decided to try them in order 2, 3, 1.

The first palette I tried was the Shades 2 – soft matte pinks and neutrals. I love using pinks on mature ladies and anyone fair skinned that warm browns and cool greys look too harsh on.

The second I tested was the Shades 3 – Cool soft matte and shimmers. This palette contains a couple of greys but mostly cool toned browns. I would have preferred more variations of the shade grey but that’s just my preference.

The last palette I tested was the Shades 1 – matte and shimmer warm neutrals. This I imagine will be my most used palette as the majority of my clients love a warm champagne smokey eye.

Overall the pigment of the eyeshadows were good. I always use an eye primer on clients however testing the first two palettes I just used a concealer as a base as I didn’t need it to last all day. For the warm palette I used a primer and I could definitely tell the difference with the pigment and how more vibrant it looked. I really like the sleek design of these palettes and the colours are lovely however there are still a good few shades in each palette I know I probably wouldn’t use. I will be definitely using these in my kit but I will still be on the look out for a palette that has a better range of colours for me!
