WONDERSKIN EYELINER PENCIL REVIEW
Wonderskin Longwear 1440 Eyeliner – Shade Liquorice

This Wonderskin Longwear Eyeliner Pencil claims to be waterproof, transfer and smudge proof. It also states it lasts up to 24 hours.
I have tried many pencil eyeliners that claim to be waterproof but I find when using in the waterline they tend to smudge and disappear after a few hours wear. With these bold long lasting claims I’m looking forward to testing Wonderskin Longwear Pencil Eyeliner!

Here is a photo before I have applied the Wonderskin Pencil Eyeliner. I have already applied a liquid line on the eyelid so I am only going to be testing this pencil in the waterline. I find most eyeliners do last on the lid but when applied in the waterline it usually disappears or smudges throughout the day. Let’s see how this one lasts in my waterline!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS…
I absolutely love the box with its holographic lettering. I wish they have done that on the pencil as it seems a bit dull in comparison. The pencil packaging is a frosted silver with white lettering. I chose shade liquorice which is an intense black but they do other colours.
The pencil glides on so easily it’s one of the smoothest eyeliner pencils I have ever used. ‘Liquorice’ is an intense black and the pigment was very strong. I applied the liner at 11.30am.

2 hours later and I noticed some of the eyeliner was missing on the outer corner of my waterline. I’m not sure if my eyes had watered at some point but I hadn’t noticed them doing. The colour is still intense and no smudges under the eyes but it seems to have just disappeared on the outer edge.

8 hours later. Inner corner and outer corner has completely vanished but the middle is pretty much in tact. Absolutely no smudging under the eye which happens with every pencil eyeliner I have used on myself.

10 hours later and I have pulled my under eye down in this final picture so you can see a bit clearer what has happened in the waterline. The Wonderskin pencil is still there in the middle but not as prominent and intense as when first applied. The inner and outer corners have vanished.

I’m going to pop an image below of what usually happens when I wear pencil liner on myself when I refer to smudging. Here I have used a pencil eyeliner that’s similar pricing to the Wonderskin eyeliner. These results are after 2 hours wear using a different pencil eyeliner I own. It seems no pencil liner completely lasts in the waterline for me so it’s choosing between which you prefer. Having to reapply after a few hours or having to wipe away the smudging from under the eye?

Neither options are ideal but unfortunately with the waterline being wet and your eyes blinking all day, it is a big ask for any make up product to stick all day. As much as I thrive for products to be long lasting and not to budge you do have to be realistic with certain items. Nobody really bothers about touching up their lipstick or adding some extra powder throughout the day so applying a little more pencil eyeliner isn’t the worst thing in the world I guess.
Personally I would rather reapply after a few hours than have to correct any smudging that could mess up my under eye concealer. As of yet I have not found a pencil eyeliner that has lasted as well as this product. Yes it disappeared in the inner and outer corners but it remained pretty much in tact for over 10 hours in the middle. I would also like to point out these images have been taken super close up and this is how it looked after 10 hours wear at a normal distance. From this distance you wouldn’t necessarily notice it had disappeared slightly in areas would you?

PROS
– Extremely soft and creamy. Very easy and comfortable to apply.
– Intense colour payoff when first applied.
– No smudging under the eye even after wearing for 8 hours.
CONS
– Product disappeared from inner and outer corners of eyes within 2 hours.
– Needs to be reapplied every few hours. Does not last fully in the waterline for 24 hours like it claims.
– Hefty price tag. Retailing at £17 it is pretty expensive for an eyeliner.
FINAL THOUGHTS…
I do like this Wonderskin Longwear Eyeliner. It applied so effortlessly, no dragging or scratching the eye and the colour is a really intense black. For someone who hates eyeliner printing and smudging under the eye this is great as the Wonderskin eyeliner doesn’t do that. It does however need to be reapplied after a couple of hours if you want a perfect intense waterline. This factor can be viewed as a positive or a negative depending on whether that’s a big deal for you or not. I personally prefer to reapply than having to correct any smudges and that’s why I have given the eyeliner a fairly good rating.
LUCYS RATING – 7.5 / 10
